We are all alive because Life Force Energy flows through us. Known by many names in Eastern medicine – Chi (Chinese), Prana (Indian) or Ki (Japanase) – it is all the same Life Force. It flows within us and around us. The whole universe vibrates with energy, every thing we encounter, whether appearing in solid, liquid or gas form is just molecules vibrating at different frequencies. Scientific experiments have proven that thoughts have a vibrational pattern as do feelings. Everything you put out or take in has energy; even when you go beyond a subatomic level! What is Reiki?
The Usui System of Natural Healing, more commonly known as Reiki, is a Japanese holistic, energy-based healing technique developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. The word Reiki itself means Universal (Rei) Life force (Ki) and refers to the universal energy that is around and inside all things. Since Life Force is affected by thoughts and feelings, it becomes disrupted when we taken on negative experiences, whether consciously or sub-consciously. Negativity causes a disruption in the flow of Ki which in turn diminishes the vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body. Through a series of hand positions either directly on or just above the body, the practitioner channels Reiki to re-establish a healthy energy flow throughout the physical and energetic system. Since Reiki supports any other medical healing, combined with proper mental, physical and nutritional health, we’re able to keep our body, mind and spirit at their optimal best.
My Reiki background
I was attuned to Reiki I by Reiki Master Donna Wilding on July 22nd, 2012 and Reiki II by Donna and her husband Caio in January 2013. I have been practicing since and slowly building a client base.
The healing touch
Did you ever have a bad day and a friend gave you a hug? A real loving hug that came from the heart? You felt better, didn’t you? Touch is very powerful. As a Reiki practitioner, I ‘heal’ with my hands. I put heal in quotes because I’m not actually healing you, I’m only acting as a loving caring touch, transferring loving energy to aid your body and mind in healing itself.
How I see Reiki
I like to think of Reiki as love; unconditional and ever flowing. So receiving a treatment from me, at least I hope, will feel leave you feeling like the universe just gave you a huge hug. Reiki isn’t a miracle cure, you might still be sad or hurt but believe that a shift has happened it is was exactly what you needed.
Other ways of looking at Reiki
Some say that the energy, the Reiki, is either spirit or light or an energy from God. I tend to veer away from those descriptions because there is a risk they may offend or confuse some people. Words like ‘Love’ and ‘Energy’ feel more universal and tangible to me. However, know that I create an open and accepting environment and will respect your beliefs.
