I was first introduced to yoga over 10 years ago; I think curiosity led me there. At that time, I was completing my post secondary studies in Psychology, with the goal to one day open my own psychotherapy practice. For as long as I can remember, I felt the need to help others in any way I can, but found that psychotherapy didn’t feel like the right career path for me. I left it behind, perusing other career goals and dreams – music being one that is ever prominent in my life.
Years passed and I still felt a pull toward healing work. I looked up courses in Music Therapy but found I didn’t have the requirements for a Masters Degree, and full time school seemed daunting and expensive. I actually still would love to someday explore that option. Sound, and especially music, can be such a powerful healer.
While I think more on that, time passes and I reconnect with Yoga through one of those deal websites – 5 hot yoga classes in the dead of winter seemed like a great idea. It was. They reignited a spark. A couple months later, I discovered Liv Yoga Studio* and met a couple teachers who made me realize that I wanted more out of my practice.
In early 2012 I decided to embark on the journey of a yoga teacher. After researching some courses, I was drawn to the one at Kula. I had previously taken several classes at the studio and it felt very right to study there. I can truly say it was the right choice and I’m fully aware that it is just the beginning of a life long journey. In the fall on 2013, I continued on this journey to complete Restorative Yoga Teacher training. In the last few years, and now at over 500 hours of training, I have attended many workshops as well completing New Leaf Yoga Foundation‘s training geared at working with at-risk-youth from a trauma informed framework and Ashaya Yoga Therapeutics Level 1 and Level 2 training.
In July 2012, I adventured outside of Yoga training and received my Reiki I certification and now am a Reiki II certified healer. For a limited time, Reiki treatments will be available at a discounted rate, with a sliding scale of fees to suit most budgets. More details are on the Reiki page.
I also offer competitively priced private yoga sessions. More information is here.
I have a passion for the outdoors, working in both outdoor education and as a canoe guide. I am an avid rock climber and as of late, have found a passion for running.
