A good friend posted a Facebook event for her birthday. It wasn’t the traditional “come out and celebrate me” kind of event. It was way more than that. She wanted to help others. The plan – buy 29 Subway sandwich meals, get together some friends (I think there was 6 of us), and some stuff these friends might no longer need, and spread some joy by handing these goodies out to 29+ folks in need (whether homeless or not, we didn’t judge). It was such a beautiful gesture on her 29th birthday to give to 29 others, so loving and selfless. I felt truly humbled to have been a part of this and to have met so many wonderful folks, smiling with gratefulness. Truly a beautiful way to spend an afternoon. I hope this inspires others to do similar. It takes so little to brighten someone’s day.
